Coconuts date back to thousands of years ago, and found primarily in tropical countries. Located in many regions of Southern and Central America and widely cultivated in Africa, India and Asian countries.  A common palm tree growing abundantly along seashores favouring sandy soil. Additionally, the Palm requires a humidity environment for healthy growth. Consequently, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea produce the vast majority of Coconut oil.

The Coconut seeds are mechanically cold pressed, resulting in, unrefined coconut Cocos nucifera oil is obtained.

Benefits of coconut oil :

All parts of the coconut fruit are utilised for culinary and medical purposes, this includes the water, milk, oil and flesh.

Coconut is also easy to digest — as compared to other edible oils — and helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and endocrine system.

Further, according to a 2011 pilot study conducted by researchers at Universiti Sains, Malaysia. “Coconut oil increases the body’s metabolic rate by removing stress on the pancreas, thereby, burning more energy and helping obese and overweight people (specifically males) lose weight.

Importantly, recent studies have demonstrated coconut’s unique structural components – saturated fats are invaluable in digestion.

Whilst helping to improve absorption of essential nutrients. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are essential for human health. Firstly, the flesh is commonly used in cooking, secondly coconut water is consumed all over the world.

In a research study conducted on 116 coronary artery disease patients, it was observed that a diet rich in extra virgin coconut oil led to an increase in good cholesterol levels (HDL cholesterol). It also shows decrease in bad cholesterol levels (LDL cholesterol). [5]Another study suggests that intake of this oil may help in maintaining healthy lipid profiles in pre-menopausal women.
