Atopic eczema
Atopic dermatitis, a common eczema affecting many children which can continue into adulthood. Eczema caused by stress, allergies or foods intolerances, results in dry itchy, red and cracked skin. It is a long term chronic condition, severe cases exhibit redness, sores, weeping and bleeding skin.
Multiple sclerosis
MS is a disease of the central nervous system which manifests itself in different ways. In mild cases, numbness will occur in the arms and legs, whilst for others the condition is far more serious resulting in blindness or paralysis.
Other MS symptoms can include muscle stiffness (spasticity). Mobility and balance issues develop, whilst some patients may experience tremors, bladder and bowel problems. Fatigue is common, as is low mood and depression. More recently, medical advancements have improved the outlook MS sufferers.
Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition. Too many skin cells are produced, too rapidly, which result in patches of raised flaky skin with red skin underneath. It is a highly inflammatory condition which manifests itself by causing painful and swollen joints, especially in the hands and feet, as well as causing fatigue.
Barratts’ syndrome and Acid Reflux
Barrett’s oesophagus is a serious complication of GERD, which stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. The oesophagus has inflammation of the lining tissues. this is a tube which carries food from the mouth to the stomach. furthermore approximately 10% of people with chronic symptoms of GERD will develop Barrett’s esophagus.
Hair loss
There are many types of hair loss with different symptoms and which causes male and female pattern baldness.
Hyperemesis gravidarum
Occurs in about 1 in 300 pregnant women each year, which by definition is the loss of at least 5% of the total body weight. The first course of action is recognising the debilitating nature of dehydration and poor nutrition for both mother and child.
Parkinson’s disease
Parkinson’s affects nerve cells in the brain, resulting in not enough of the chemical dopamine being produced which cause tremors or shaking, particularly when at rest.
