Lavender is the most versatile, safe and economical oil, well known for its relaxing and healing properties. Evidence has shown that the Ancient Romans used the flowers in their baths for its therapeutic benefits.
Lavender is grown throughout Southern Europe with France. France known as the main source of commercially grown Lavender.
With over 250 types of Lavender approximately 6 are used in Aromatherapy, Lavender Angustifolia is the most important type. Having vast therapeutic qualities, the essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the flowering heads.

- Antiseptic
- Antibacterial,
- Decongestant,
- Analgesic,

- Insect repellent.
Used to Treat:
- Infections: Inhibits growth of bacteria, cystitis, colds and flu, nose and throat infections.
- Muscular problems: aches and pains, arthritis, rheumatism, neuralgia.
- Skin complaints: Acne, eczema, scars, psoriasis, sunburn, insect bites.
- Helpful for alopecia and dandruff, promotes healthy shiny hair.
- Burns, bruises, grazes, headaches, stomach pains, earache, migraine, fluid retention.
For the Mind and Emotions:
- Soothing and calming: balances the emotions.
- Reduces insomnia, mental stress, and eases anxiety and depression.
In the home:
As a bactericidal, add to dishwater and to kitchen cleaners.
Deter moths and in a spray to repel mosquitoes and white fly. Encourages healthy growth of vegetables.
